Yan Jiang is a dedicated volunteer who has been involved in various Winnipeg community organizations for the past 20 years. She has enthusiastically participated in numerous multicultural activities. Most notably, she is co-founder of the Winnipeg Chinese Senior Association (WCSA), a rapidly growing non-profit organization serving seniors and immigrants, which has attracted 1,400 members in 6years. With Yan as president, WCSA offers many lifestyle programs for seniors using intergenerational volunteers to deliver innovative opportunities for healthy and happy aging, community cohesiveness, and intercultural appreciation. The programs expanded during the pandemic to relieve anxiety and reduce isolation and loneliness of members. It undertook charitable activities like delivering masks and other PPE supplies, and daily necessities to vulnerable seniors and participated in a Harvest Food Drive in the south Winnipeg. Recently, Yan and the WCSA board organized the 2022 Canada Day celebration and Canada Day Drumming in Bridgewater. Yan received the City of Winnipeg Community Service Award in 2017, the Premier’s Volunteer Service Award in 2019, and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022
